Fisheries sector in India has transformed itself from mere traditional pond-based fishing in non-coastal areas to the induction of newer technologies like RAS and Biofloc. The traditional IMC culture has also now equipped with new technologies for better production and marketing.
The fisheries sector has offered encouragement to the rural youth to take up this activity as an entrepreneurial opportunity and safeguard their livelihood. The enormous potential in fisheries and also an assured market would create self-employment on at big scale.
However, proper training and hand-holding for around the year to scale up the business are not being offered, which has resulted in the unintended quitting of the fisheries business. the youth who are starting up their fisheries business without training, in the majority of the cases are being failed.
Skill development and entrepreneurship efforts across the country have been highly appreciated, Therefore, Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD) would be organizing a five days training programme on Fisheries Entrepreneurship. The entire training programme would be a Residential Training
The purpose of the project is to attain livelihood security and improve the quality of life of unemployed rural youth through the Residential Skill Development Training program.
