Despite this, there are challenges that are hampering the sustainable production and income of the farmers like low productivity, lack of modern technologies, dependence on rainfall and irrigation issues, lack of market linkages, and limited adoption of sustainable practices.
Uttar Pradesh has immense potential to become a leading player in India's edible oil sector. With its strong agricultural base, government support, and growing market demand, the state offers lucrative opportunities for farmers, processors, and investors. By addressing challenges and leveraging modern technologies, UP can significantly enhance its contribution to India's edible oil production and reduce dependency on imports.
Despite this, there are challenges that are hampering the sustainable production and income of the farmers like low productivity, lack of modern technologies, dependence on rainfall and irrigation issues, lack of market linkages, and limited adoption of sustainable practices.
However, the policy placed by the State Government is helping the farmers to mitigate the challenges, still, there is a knowledge gap regarding which farmers to be trained and make them aware and also provide a platform to the researchers, policymakers, industry, Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with Department of Agriculture would organize a day-long conference on Edible Oil and Expo to showcase the latest technologies, researches for the benefit of the farmers.

1. Department of Agriculture, Government of Uttar Pardesh is an apex body for the implemention of schemes related to agriculture and overall look after the entire gamut of agriculture in the State through various department and sub departments.
2. All India Coordinated Research Project on Oilseeds (AICORPO) was established in the year 1967 based on the recommendations of a special committee constituted by ICAR, with an objective of a systematic and mission-oriented research programme to increase the oilseed production. Initially there were five crops in the ambit of project i.e., groundnut, rapeseed-mustard, sesame, linseed and castor

About the Proposed Conference

The proposed Meet/Conference will provide an opportunity for the State to showcase its potential and opportunities to explore new frontiers of technology intervention, governance and management interventions, entrepreneurship development related, emerging market linkage opportunities and enhancing the net income of those directly related to Oil Seed Production, Processing, Marketing in the State.
The one day programme will bring a large number of national stakeholders from the industry, institutions, Government and the development sectors to showcase the programs and schemes, products, technologies and services; and deliberate upon the issues and opportunities and the way forward.
CARD envisions to provide exposure to the producers, facilitate meet with potential buyers and success models and sensitizing them with policies, schemes, technologies and markets. Rewarding evolution will be evident when farmers themselves become role models for fellow farmers.
